What pressures? Pressures from their classmates, from school bullies, from
neighborhood thugs, from those nasty songs that are becoming more and more
popular among teens, from the internet...
The pressures on children are real! And,
most times you will be the last person to know. Why? Because children
don't think that adults understand or have a clue what their lives are
like! So... they don't talk to you... They talk with their close
friends...
So, what's wrong with that? Well... it is
good that they have someone to talk with and share their concerns... But,
since they and their friends are experiencing the same threats and
challenges, they don't always handle the situations right. And often, they
don't know what to do! And sometimes when they do take action... it
results in conflict that often ends in violence!
Children also have a lot of misinformation
about drugs and since they are only talking with each other... there is no
one to correct them... and no one to really guide them through the
dangers!
And, what happens when some of their
friends have been corrupted by others who have a more deadly hidden
agenda? Your child may eventually be forced into doing things that you
constantly warn them against!
